Canada employment falls more than expected in November
|By FXStreet FXStreet (Córdoba) – Canada lost a net 35,700 jobs in November and the unemployment rate climbed to 7.1% from 7%, Statistics Canada said Friday.
The outcome was much worse than the 10,000 fall expected and comes after a 44,400 gain in October. The unemployment rate was expected to remain unchanged at 7.0%.
Compared with 12 months earlier, employment increased by 124,000 or 0.7%, with all the growth in full-time work. Over the same period, the number of hours worked grew by 1.1%.
