GBP/USD moves off highs, but remains strong
|By FXStreet FXStreet (Córdoba) – After rallying more than 200 pips toward fresh 3-week highs, GBP/USD lost steam and gave up a few pips over the last hours, sliding back below the 1.55 mark.
However, the pound remains among the best performers on Wednesday following a strong UK employment report, while the greenback is among the worst performers weighed by soft inflation data heading into the FOMC decision.
GBP/USD rose to a peak of 1.5527, last seen August 26, before retreating a tad to currently trade at 1.5492, recording a 0.98% gain since opening.
GBP/USD levels to watch
On the upside, next resistances are seen at 1.5527 (Sep 16 high), 1.5687 (Aug 17 high) and 1.5719 (Aug 26 high). On the other hand, supports could be found at 1.5329 (Sep 16 low), 1.5300 (psychological level) and 1.5268 (Sep 8 low).
