Key events taking place ahead – Westpac

“NZ’s semi-monthly dairy auction will be held as usual during the London/NY session. Futures are not giving a clear directional hint, though we see downside risk as pressure on global commodities overall could impact dairy as well.

UK Dec headline inflation is expected flat m/m and up 0.2%y/y. Core has been lifting from its mid-2015 lows and economists expect another 1.2%y/y print. The Germany Jan ZEW survey should show deterioration in sentiment, with expectations falling to 8.0. The US Jan NAHB housing market index is seen remaining at 61 despite housing activity having lost momentum.”
