Key Quotes
“AUD: According to the IMM data for the week ended April 26, leveraged funds continued to ramp up long positions in AUD (67% of total leveraged funds’ contracts). This is the maximum net long positioning by leveraged funds in the last year. Asset manager positioning was maintained net long at 58% for the last 3 weeks.”
“JPY: Leveraged funds increased their net long JPY positions on the week, with the current proportion of net longs at 41%, as of Tuesday this week. The maximum JPY net long positioning in the last year was 43%, which was 5 weeks ago. As the last data point reflects net positioning before the disappointing BOJ meeting outcome, considering the strong reaction in USDJPY, it might be reasonable to assume that JPY net longs have already surpassed this maximum level.”
